Tell me again what's real, can you see the surface?
Speak, breathe
Dwelling in the surreal, take first steps in earnest
See, feel
Sell me a new ideal, give me truer purpose
Taste, wake
Spell me the death of truth, I’m so sick of secrets
Rise, lie
Help me recall my youth, when all nights were dreamless
Sleep, free
Growing in the obtuse, and ignite the furnace
Seem, dream
Washing away the proof, don’t you know it’s worthless
Hide, die
Am I awake? Was it just a dream?
Lost in the haze, I can’t see anymore
Don’t call it fate, It bends and it breaks
Twisted and ashamed, I can’t feel anymore
Consciously render the few
Contamination ensued
Faction is reborn anew
Am I awake? Was it just a dream?
Lost in the haze, I can’t see anymore
Don’t call it fate, It bends and it breaks
Twisted and ashamed, I can’t feel anymore
Please don’t obstruct the lantern's view
Leading them ashore
Here to return the earth back to
What it was before

OMG, late to the party but this is some of the best occult infused doom stoner tackle I've ever heard. Reference points include Sabbath (obvs), especially with the Ozzy-esque vocals but there's also the melodiousness of early Heep mixing with a more contemporary occult rock sound. It starts in the 70's and makes it to the present day. The riffs are huge but it's their way with a hook that elevates this from your average doom/stoner fare. Very wonderful indeed! egg-magoo
As amazing as their first album was (Father of Time), this one is even better.
Gnome produces genius-level guitar work and you've got to hear it!
They claim they're on a quest for the golden riff, but if they haven't already reached it and gone on to look for platinum, my ears must be deceiving me. Richard Lewis
This album is a concentrate of energy. No song is boring, on the contrary each one renews the pleasure. Each song is a classic stoner surprise. Addictive album! Pumpkin Thierry
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
Recently discovered this band. IF their back catalogue, is as great as this I'll be adding them to my collection.
To my ears they sound like someone has blended early black sabbath with led zepplin's bluesier albums. A much welcome trip to the 70s hard blues heavy metal. welshwizzardd
